2013 NLRA series champion Dustin Strand lead all 25 laps, winning his fourth career NLRA series feature, and first this season, Saturday night at the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. Brad Seng finished second, with Cole Schill, Ricky Weiss, and Shane Edginton completing the top five. Bill Mooney was the hard charger, improving eight spots after starting 16th. Strand's win puts him eight points behind Mike Balcaen for the lead in the series point standings, with defending champion Brad Seng in third, just 22 points back of Balcaen, heading into next Saturday nights' event at the Hibbing Raceway in Hibbing, MN. The NLRA series takes to the track two times this week with races at two very different race tracks, first On Thursday night, July the 30th, at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN, and on Saturday night, August the 1st at the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. First on Thursday night, the series makes its' third and final appearance this season, and 16th overall at the three-eighths mile oval on the Norman County Fairgrounds. Ricky Weiss in the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist, swept the fair races in June, with Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Black Diamond, Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Rivinius Ranch MasterSbuilt by JMR, and Dustin Strand, driver of the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. 71, also collecting top tens on both nights.
Ricky Weiss in the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist, won his fifth NLRA series feature of the season Saturday night at the Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN, the 18th series win of his career. Weiss and Dustin Strand, driver of the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. 71, shared the front row at the start, with Strand winning the drag race to turn one at the start. Strand lead the first five laps, before Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom took advantage of a lap six restart to pass Ricky Weiss for second, and start reeling in Strand for the lead, which he took on lap nine.
The NLRA season is set to invade the Jamestown Speedway, in Jamestown, ND, for the 20th time in series history on Saturday night, June the 13th. The quarter-mile oval on the Stutzman County Fairgrounds is a favorite of many the NLRA series regulars, and it returns to the NLRA schedule for two races in 2015. Two-time, and defending NLRA series champion Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom won last years' event in Jamestown, his first since 2003, and third overall, and finished runner-up to Jeff Wildung at the 43rd running of the Stampede last September.
Kevin Robertson held off a hard charging Eric Breeschoten for his first feature win at the I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls. Cody Skytland leads the points in Fergus Falls with NLRA series regular Cole Schill in second, just three points back. Brad Seng won his 44th feature at River Cities over Steve Anderson, while Mike Balcaen, Dustin Strand, and Bill Mooney rounded out the top five. Ricky Weiss won another feature in Winnipeg last Thursday night holding off Bill Mooney and Mike Balcaen. Weiss and Shane Edginton left Winnipeg and joined the Wissota Challenge Series in South Dakota. The Red River Co-Op Speedway in Winnipeg, and the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks fell victim to rain again last week. NLRA Series regular Cole Schill finished fifth at the I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls last Friday night, Don Shaw was the winner. Another series regular, Mike Balcaen scored a pair of top fives last weekend in Mandan and Minot, ND. Donny Schatz took the opportunity to race at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN after the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars were rained out in Michigan, and it paid dividends with a win. Brad Seng won his 27th career NLRA series feature Saturday night at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN, while rain claimed night two Sunday night. On Saturday night, Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, took the lead from Cody Skytland, driver of the No. 75 Langdon Implement MastersBuilt by JMR, with 10 laps to go, and lead the remainder of the event. Jeff Wildung, in the Veit Companies No. 50 was running fourth with three to go when he went pitside, while Ricky Weiss in the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist and Zach Johnson, driver of the No. 73 Shaw Trucking Pierce swapped the third and fourth positions after Wildung's exit.
NLRA points leader Brad Seng has collected his fifth win of the 2014 season during Saturday nights' visit to the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. The win is also Seng's 25th career series triumph putting him one win away from tying John Seitz on the all time wins list. Seng is also the first driver since 2004 to win five NLRA features in one season. John Seitz won a series record seven times during the 2004 season.
The Northern Late Model Racing Association is set to make its' lone appearance of the 2014 season this Saturday night, August the 2nd, at the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. The race is scheduled to be the 19th race in series history at the quarter-mile speedway on the Stutsman County Fairgrounds. Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Victory Circle took the lead from Joey Pederson on lap 13 and lead the final twelve laps on his way to winning last year race in Jamestown. Many NLRA series regulars have remained active since the the final NLRA series event at the River Cities Speedway on September 5th. Many NLRA series regulars competed at the 42nd annual Stock Car Stampede at the Jamestown Speedway last weekend. Jeremy Keller of Mandan, ND drove his No. 11K to back-to-back victories at the Stampede. NLRA'ers that took part in the action at Jamestown included Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport Mars MB Custom, who followed up his second John Seitz Memorial victory with a fourth place run at the Stampede. |
